Best quick lunch Mexican food around. Most of the family works there and they are always happy. They do treat you like family and some people take offense to that but really they are just good people and lots of good food. Prices are decent as well.

Mind-boggling selection of tequilas plus a fabulous menu of Mexican favorites and a nice happy hour deal make this an awesome spot to eat and try new drinks. We enjoyed the shrimp quesadilla and the potato taquitos, and the spicy margarita had an excellent kick. Their salsas pair well with the dishes, and I only wish I had more stomach space to try their tacos. Great service at the bar and lots of TV screens to show whatever game is on when you're there. Hard to go wrong here!

This place was pretty awesome. There was a long wait (Saturday nigh, so no surprise there) but we wandered around Gas Lamp while we waited which worked out just fine. The food and service were excellent and the atmosphere was very cool. Highly recommend the queso, burrito, and/or tacos. We didn't get anything to drink this time, but the margarita menu sounded pretty good.

SERVICE // I got here around lunchtime on a Saturday! The line is usually quite long and out of the little market area that La Puerta is situated in. The line moves very quick and I only waited around 15 minutes in line then 3 minutes for my tacos. Don't let the line scare you away - the tacos are worth it!

Fun atmosphere, delicious food, and every kind of tequila/mezcal you could ask for! The service was great - we had a slight mix up on the receipt and the waitress was happy to fix it right away! If you're bringing a large party, it's best to make a reservation or there might be a little bit of a wait.

Good vibes only at this place. It was entertaining but at the same time, chill. The menu is expensive but the dish I had sur ‘n’ turf was really good. Bartenders were friendly and social but the beer was “meh†I recommend this place

Fantastic Margaritas and street tacos. They bring a big bowl of homemade tortilla chips and salsa. You can't go wrong!

Even though it's kinda pricey for tacos and burritos, the taste of food is pretty decent. Be ready for the long wait though. We arrived just a bit after 5PM on Saturday, and it's already 20 min wait for a table. We took the option to have food outdoors, so we got a seat immediately. There is good quantity of chips; therefore, didn't feel we waited long for our entrees.

This place is amazing! We had a great time with Erica at the bar. Customer service was on point. I came here to try some mezcal and Eddie was super knowledgeable and really went out of his way to share his knowledge and passion for all their drinks. The food was also superb. I can't recommend this place highly enough. If you are in the area, you need to stop by.

Lovely food and drinks. Huge portion sizes. We went on a Monday evening and happy hours are until 2am!!!! Half off drinks and some appetizers. Guacamole and chips and shrimp are delicious. And the spicy margarita is literally the world's best!

Margaritas taste great, but may as well not have any tequila in them. On my second trip, I paid for añejo and could only taste the lime and sugar. Food is very good! Ambiance and atmosphere are great.

Oh sweet Jesus these tacos were delicious...the chips and guac come in the form of a mountain and everything is so flavorful. Definitely fulfilled our San Diego Mexican food requirement. Absolute flavortown

I wish I lived in San Diego. The weather is beautiful. The plants all look like they are from a Dr. Seuss book. And then there's this place. Went back 3 times. My only complaint is they didn't have any more David Bowie arrest photo t shirts left, but the beauty of their guacamole cancels out this complaint. Anyway, I bought that t shirt on Amazon. I wish I could buy their guacamole on Amazon.

The food was delicious, served in generous portions, and the drinks were very good. It's a laid-back atmosphere, and the staff is attentive. Food highlights were the Surf & Turf Fries and the Carnitas & Pancakes. Drink-wise, I enjoyed the Wheel in the Sky and the Purple Haze. Next time I'm in San Diego, I'll be back!

I was walking down the street looking for a place to eat. The smell coming from this place was as amazing so I decided to stop in. The margaritas were fantastic and the food I ordered was tasty. Great local pub with a wide selection of drinks and an amazing set of authentic Mexican dishes. Try any of their tacos and you will not regret it. Their veggie and shrimp tacos are both that stood out to me. And of course, eat the nachos and the guacamole.

Been here at least ten times over the last two years and I live in Florida! The tacos are amazing! The guacamole is a definable reason I keep coming back and the margaritas go down line water, so refreshing and delicious. The pozole is a meal in and of itself. A must try Mexican food joint in Dan Diego. Yep! It was that good☺ï¸

The chips and salsa were fresh and our server brought habanero sauce that was supper good. I had the shredded beef burrito with cheese, no beans or rice. My companions had the tacos, and everyone was full from a well proportioned lunch. Our server was fast and pleasant, kept the water glasses full. Try this location, If you are in the district!

A very hip place with great tacos and drinks. Some of the appetizers and the plates were rather large. We had ordered the guacamole and chips and it comes in a big bowl. It was outstanding but it was a meal in itself almost.

Loved the food and great beers and a excellent value happy hour. Our waitress was an obvious cow though and clearly does not enjoy her job. Had some excellent service in San Diego, but not here. I know it gets busy, but don't work in hospitality if you don't want to be hospitable.

Had the Surf n Turf burrito with bean inside. It was 1 lb, it was huge, I cannot believe I finished it. It was tasty and amazing and awesome from the very first bite to the very last. I loved that burrito so much, it's a part of me now.Stayed in San Diego for 4 nights, I tried a different restaurant a night for dinner. This one is my absolute favorite hands down. Strongly recommend.

Amazing happy hour (half off most of their drinks and great food prices), delicious drinks, and quite possibly the best tacos I've had in San Diego. Love the Mexican shrine to dead musicians. Great place to cozy up to the bar and chat with one of the friendly bartenders.
